What's more annoying?

a) yuppie rich fucks in their pristine ugly ass dancing bears tie dyes ( no offense to anyone I like here I hope )that can afford scalped ticket prices

b)smelly dreadlocked suburban hippies (who are nothing more than another clique ), expecting free handouts and using their dumb ass clique words and trying to rip people off selling them crap?

c) frat boy touch head types who can't handle their party favors?

"It's one in ten thousand just come for the show"

Nice post brother, brings a smile.

Johnny, personally, I have been to over 200 jam band shows since 1994 (Jerry, GD, ABB, Panic (I LOVE WP), Phish, all the Jam Grass bands (YMSB!), Kimock, Bruce, Ratdog (Go Blobby, go go), Phil, The Other Ones (1998 at Shoreline, amazing), The Dead). Could I add our favorite band Ween in here too please?

I've seen all these folks you speak of above, but for me, it's just about the music, a lot of shows I was alone or just with my brother and I (we) would just zero in on the band and merge with the beautiful music. All the others are just like moving statues to me. If the chance comes this summer, I would love to see The Dead (OK, laugh at me, that's fine), but there is something special to be had for someone like me who just loves and apprecites the music -- and can afford those wild prices ; ) I'll just buy the lawn and sneak up front like always.

So, who's going this Spring/Summer? I bet it would just be 3 of the regulars on here, including me and Pat (our) Kid - if he is even still on here.

I love this place! Bring on Ween...

hey stilldead, I aint gonna laugh at you man. I was just having fun with this. I mean,I think this tour looks shitty. Shitty venues, no multi show runs, and high ticket prices. Like I said, I saw the Dead down at the Gorge in 03 and while it was a killer venue, the music had me thinking, WTF is the point ya know? Then I saw that Comes A Time show in Berkeley and loved every second of it. I'm there for the music too my friend, but I also love sharing it with cool people rather than posers. As you know we don't get much up here so if they actually came I'd definately want to go.

The " jam" scene doesn't really do a whole lot for me. Phish were fun the couple of times I saw them but nothing too deep or emotional, WSP can hit me on that level but they get too monotonous for me, I like the bluegrass jam stuff but the vocals bug me( SCI, Waybacks, any of them ).ABB are ALWAYS good but they transcend that genre I think.

The bands that have done it for me live post GD are

Los Lobos, Wilco, Ween, Dan Bern, Steve Kimock, some of Big Head Todds stuff ( the older stuff ) none of which except for Kimock are jam bands

Now, the DSO show (6-10-76) I just saw with a Mission was well worth the $35, although I think they're even getting a little steep.

Hey!!!! I definitely do not "got my tix'.

This is total BS. All you folks w/ buyers remorse wanna make yerselves feel better by adding my name to the "ship of fools" list......:)

I will not be attending, because tix will not be free.

With stock prices so low, I plan to fund my retirement w/ the money I'm not spending to go see the DEAD.

Don't get me wrong, I have no issue w/ the ticket prices. I just don't feel it's worth the $$. Much like HBO, which I recently canceled after seeing the movie Krull in the program guide. Krull? Are you fucking serious HBO? Even TBS won't air that sleeper.

Just like at a fine restaurant or a nice wine, high price raises expectations. Which is probably not fair, but that's what happens.

And, I gotta agree; my retirement account as of 1-15-09 will fund exactly two and a half tixs...but, that might be a better investment, eh? In fact, putting them on eBay might garner a return of 100%...

Hmmm, I gotta get those Pension Fund Execs to try this strategy on: invest in DEAD tixs for short term returns!

I feel very much like the majority in terms of the slacknees of the sound we have heard with this line up.
Warren is not the guy for this band, etc.

Even so, there will be pretty girls dancing and some good friends having a laugh. I can ignore the frat boys and yuppies easily enough, that's what the refreshments are for, right?

I'm interested in being a well seasoned deadhead more than a grumpy burnout. Wish me luck on that one.

WARREN HAYNES TO PERFORM AT WASHINGTON LIFE MAGAZINE'S
INAUGURAL WEEKEND KICKOFF PARTY AND JOINS THE DEAD AT MID-ATLANTIC INAUGURAL BALL

Warren Haynes will be featured at two major inaugural events - as the sole performer at Washington Life magazine's Inaugural Weekend Kickoff Party and as part of The Dead for the Mid-Atlantic Inaugural Ball.

The Inaugural Weekend Kickoff Party, taking place on Friday, January 16, boasts a guest list that is a who's who of Capital Hill's political elite, including former Clinton Chief of Staff and current Presidential Transition Team head John Podesta, who will be giving the opening remarks, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who will introduce Haynes. Haynes, known worldwide for his work as a founding member of Gov't Mule and his continuing role in the Allman Brothers Band and The Dead, performed at Pelosi's own inauguration in 2007.

Haynes' participation in the inaugural festivities continues on January 20 when he resumes his duties as guitarist and vocalist with the Dead at the Mid-Atlantic Inaugural Ball, which will be attended by President Barack Obama. The Dead will launch an extensive arena tour this spring - their first tour in five years. For full details and tour itinerary, go here. Other artists involved in the Inauguration include: The Derek Trucks Band with Susan Tedeschi at the Southern Ball Common, Jack Johnson at the President Obama Home States Ball, Maroon 5 at the Vice President Biden Home States Ball, Sheryl Crow at the Midwestern Ball, James Taylor at the Eastern Ball, Yolanda Adams, Carole King and the Dartmouth Gospel Choir at Finance Welcome Brunch. There is also "The Neighborhood Ball: An Inauguration Celebration," to be held on Inauguration Day, next Tuesday evening with musical performers to include Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Faith Hill, JAY-Z, Alicia Keys, Shakira and Stevie Wonder.

U2 will join a stellar lineup of artists at The Lincoln Memorial in Washington this Sunday for 'We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration.' Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, John Legend, Usher, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, will.i.am, and Stevie Wonder are among the acts performing while Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah and Denzel Washington are among those reading historical passages.

In other news, both Grace Potter & the Nocturnals and Jackie Greene will perform at Young Lawyers for Obama’s The Red Goes Blues Inaugural Bash. The event, which boasts a “smart casual” dress code, will take place at Washington’s Old Ebbitt Grill on Sunday, January 18. Please click here for a list of additional Inauguration Weekend performers.

Anyone been to one of these? Is it fun? My wife and I purchased the Gold package. Will you get to meet some of the people such as Sean, Ollie North and any other guests he has. I hope Mark Levin and Ann Coulter show up. Billy Ray Cyrus, Charlie Daniels, and Lee Greenwood are featured. Appreciate any information.

Hey it'll be just like old times walking around the parking lot mumbling "who the fuck are all these idiots" and "there's a better parking lot scene in San Quentin nowadays" Ahhh who said the good ol days are gone forever. I mean really we are getting so old now and I'm sure the scene hasn't improved much that we sorta actually can reminisce about the good ol bad days now I guess.

some of us diehards who still can't resist. After all several of our friends here are going. Who wouldn't want to hang out with purple gel for example? or even that shady SDH?

Hopefully it won't be as I described.

As I posted before, I am going to the Denver show.

I've been on this site since 2004 and have made some good "net" friends here. I would love to meet anyone here who is going to the Pepsi Center.
